‘Herbal’ Male Enhancement Pills Allegedly Cut With Viagra

SAN FRANCISCO — The owner of a male enhancement pill company that marketed itself as “all natural” was actually cutting its products with pharmaceuticals such as Viagra, according to a criminal complaint.

Ivan Sanchez, owner of San Mateo-based Serious Wood Male Enhancement, was charged in federal court with shipping mislabeled and adulterated drugs across state lines, a felony that carries a maximum penalty. three years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

In the lawsuit filed last week, prosecutors allege Sanchez called the “Serious Wood” pills an “all-natural” herbal supplement. In fact, the pills are alleged to contain sildenafil and tadalafil, the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis, two popular types of erectile dysfunction drugs.

Sanchez reportedly sold the pills through his own website and on an Amazon seller account. He is charged with one particular expedition, which was sent from San Francisco to Kirkland, Washington.

Prosecutors say the alleged scheme began in December 2014.

Sanchez has yet to enter a plea. His arraignment is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13 in the San Francisco courtroom of Judge Thomas S. Hixson.
